Returning items

Please make sure to return borrowed items to the library branch or institute where you borrowed them - e.g. the Main Library, the Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library, the Urban Design Library or an institute of TU Wien.

All items should be returned on time to avoid overdue fines.

The due date of your borrowed items is shown in your online account ("My Account" in CatalogPlus). Here, you can also renew your loans - unless the item is already overdue, or the maximum loan period (6 months) has expired, or another patron has requested the item.

We charge fines to ensure that stock is put back in to circulation as quickly as possible for the benefit of all students.

The Library sends courtesy and overdue reminders to help you manage your loans and avoid large fines. Please check your email account regularly for our courtesy reminder notices.

You are still responsible for ensuring that items are returned or renewed on time, and non-receipt of a courtesy notice or reminder will not be grounds to appeal against a fine.

The following fines are charged on Library items returned late:

€ 4.00 per overdue reminder per overdue item. Reminders are sent when items are overdue by 14 days, 28 days, 32 days and 48 days.

The first and second reminders may be sent by email, the third reminder will be sent by registered mail.
